5 promises to yourself that you should keep

We often make commitments to ourselves or make a ¡°to-do list¡± with all the things that we want to take on today. But we barely ever keep them. The Huffington Post revealed five important resolutions that people should keep. 


1. Be grateful and positive
Everyone has a bad day or feels blue now and then. It¡¯s no help thinking negatively in these moments. Rather, focus on positive moments you¡¯re grateful for and write them down or describe them out loud. We can eventually become happy after promising ourselves to become a thankful and positive person. 


2. Listen to what your body and mind have to say 
If the body gets exhausted, ¡°our bodies tend to scream louder than our minds.¡± ¡°Tight muscles and recurring dreams¡± are signs of exhaustion. Don¡¯t ignore these signs -- listen to them. 


3. Smile to strangers
Smiling is an ¡°instant wellness booster.¡± According to studies, smiling makes one happier. If you smile at other people, both you and the other person will get a happiness boost. 


4. Be kind to yourself
Be kind to yourself. That includes how you treat yourself, including your abilities and appearance. Studies have revealed that ¡°self-acceptance is paramount to a happier life.¡± In other words, it¡¯s a key part of how you see the world and yourself, but not many people keep this fourth ¡°promise.¡± Practice being kinder to yourself. 


5. Give your best
Sometimes we¡¯re our own harshest critics. Instead of focusing on ¡°what we can¡¯t,¡± focus on ¡°what we can.¡± With this attitude, our relationships with other people will become more positive as well.
